Anderson home after kidney transplant
Gresham resident Lori Anderson came home with a newly transplanted kidney on Sunday, July 18, and is doing well, reported her husband, Jeff.
Anderson and her donor, Mark Mabbott, who connected with the couple through the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce, are both healing following a July 12 surgery. However, she will return to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital for frequent blood tests. An earlier transplant failed for Anderson, leaving her with antibodies that sent her to a Legacy Good Samaritan and to a surgeon specializing in anti-rejection issues.
KeyBank employees Brianna Wecker and Brenda Felix hosted a party fundraiser on July 22, at Another Round at the Gresham Golf Course, 2155 N.E. Division St., for Anderson and Mabbott to help both recipient and donor cover expenses for their off-work time and recovery.
State biologists advise Oregonians to be on the lookout for turtles on roads, parks, yards and campgrounds this summer.
Female turtles often leave the water to lay their eggs. Anyone who sees a turtle should leave it alone instead of trying to return it to the water. Oregon’s native turtles are protected by law. It’s illegal to remove them from the wild and keep them as pets. The public can report turtle sightings at oregonzoo.org/Turtles.
